Kenny’s Well Road / Circular Road Realignment Scheme

In accordance with Section 179 of the Planning & Development Acts, 2000 - 2010, and Part 8 of the Planning & Development Regulations 2001-2011, Kilkenny Borough Council hereby gives notice of its intention to:

Realign Kenny’s Well Road / Circular Road from the junction with Dominic Street for a distance of 500m to Rothe Terrace. The proposed works will take place in and adjacent to the St. Mary’s Architectural Conservation Area. The works will include the construction of the following:

a) A new 6.6m wide carriageway & associated road markings,

b) New 2.1m wide dedicated parking bays,

c) Footpath improvements,

d) 2 No. new raised platform pedestrian crossing points,

e) The realignment of existing junctions on Kenny’s Well Road from adjoining residential estates (St. Teresa’s Terrace/Emmet Street and Breagagh Court),

f) Removal of existing overhead power lines,

g) Provision of new street lighting,

h) All associated site clearance, ducting, chambers, drainage & ancillary works arising from the above, including works to the open space area at St. Teresa’s Terrace to facilitate the provision of parking spaces onto the Kenny’s Well Road.

i) Restriction of Use by Heavy Goods Vehicles to outward direction only.

Plans and particulars for the above proposal will be available for inspection at the offices of Kilkenny Borough Council, City Hall, High Street, Kilkenny and the Kilkenny Local Authorities Road Design Office, 1 Dean Street, Kilkenny between the hours of 9.00am to 1.00pm and 2.00pm to 5.00pm, Monday to Friday (excluding Bank Holidays) from Friday the 21^st September 2012 to Friday the 26^th October 2012 (inclusive).

Submissions and observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, may be made in writing to the undersigned, not later than Friday 16^th November 2012 at 12 noon.
