Notice of Proposed Development by a Local Authority
Phase 3 of the River Nore Linear Park (Lacken Walk)
In accordance with Section 179 of the Planning and Development Act 2000 - 2007 Kilkenny County Council and Kilkenny Borough Council hereby give notice of their intention to carry out the following development:
Construction of Phase 3 of The River Nore Linear Park including provision of new footpaths, repairs to existing footpaths including provision of slip resistant surface, river bank stabilisation using Willow revetment, fencing, surgery to existing trees and vegetation, repairs to existing seating areas, repair to existing stone steps and stone wall, provision of new handrails, provision of ducting for possible future public lighting, pedestrian link from public road (Ring Road) and ancillary site works at the following location :
On the Eastern Bank of The River Nore from the rear of Maudlin Street in the townlands of Gardens, Lacken, Maudlinsland and Quarryland, Kilkenny City to Kilkenny Ring Road adjacent to Ossory Bridge.
Part or all of the proposed development is located within John Street and Lacken Architectural Conservation Area, Area of Archaeological Potential and Kilkenny City & Environs Development Plan 2008 - 2014.
Plans and particulars of the proposed development are available for inspection during office hours at the offices of Kilkenny County Council (Customer Service Desk), County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny, the offices of Kilkenny Borough Council, City Hall, Kilkenny and County Library, John’s Quay, Kilkenny from Friday, 30th January 2009 to Monday 2nd March 2009.
Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development will be situated, may be made in writing to Claire Murphy, Landscape Architect, Parks Section, Kilkenny County Council, County Hall, John Street, Kilkenny before 5p.m. Wednesday 18th March 2009.
